EDIT: IF (big if) Wikipedia can be believed, this is the 9th crash of this type of plane out of 178 total built, which at 5% seems pretty high. Also wouldnt be the first takeoff crash.

Those planes are garbage. 35+ year old Soviet-era flying death traps put together with string and glue and tape. There were no safety regulations in Soviet era, and the planes are much older now. I wouldn't get in one of those planes if you offered me millions of dollars.
What a tragedy. Players are lured by cash of the KHL but are literally putting their lives on the line.
So sad.
