It was mentioned in the broadcast that the off-ice judges have this ability. And even though I've never seen it, it was also mentioned that the on-ice refs can overturn the decision from the booth. My thought on this one is that it deals with the video judges relaying what they see to the ref verbally, and then the ref making the decision.

You're correct. But as you mentioned earlier...I think the fact that Konowalchuk drove the Predators defender into the net, which dislodged the net...wasn't so much what got the goal waved off as the fact that the Preds player was pushed into Vokoun as well, which was probably enough "impede the save" evidence to get the goal waved off. Even the Avs commentators said that they felt it would probably be waved off. I think they only brought the "if they thought it was going in anyway" argument as optimism, because they sounded pretty uncertain about it.
