I miss it too. It was cheesy as hell, but what made it good was that it was unique and catchy.
My best memory of the L'Oreille goal song was from game 3 of the 2002 series against Boston, when the Habs took the lead midway through the 3rd with three quick goals, including one by Koivu (this was the year he'd been out with cancer)... there were these three knuckle-dragging Boston fans sitting in the row in front of me, and they couldn't stop complaining about how 'stupid' and 'French' it was. They weren't alone; I seem to remember one of the Boston players being quoted during the series as saying that it was the most annoying one in the league.
Anyway, I'm used to Vertigo by now. It's better than that Simple Plan song they used a few years ago, at the very least.
