I think it is because their teams are so lousy the prospects get rushed into roles they can't handle because they have no talent supporting them. I know the Oilers didn't have the proper support for Cogliano and Gagner due to their lack of center depth and their development has been stunted. I didn't realize Lucic was so young when he made it. I think Bergeron is a good comparison. I think Couturier's hockey IQ and D are enough for him to stick.
Lucic was 19 when he made it (he played another year of juniors after being drafted)

Bergy was 18, though.
