I got it a lot as a kid as well. Maybe not annually, but not that far from it. I haven't had it in like 5-6 years now though!

Anyway, just reinforcing that it's possible. Nurse gf confirms. Imagine, say, a young kid with a weak immune system. 3 variations of influenza. 4 years total. That basically amounts to catching it annually. Not probable, but very possible.
