How can you truly make that determination? If anything, a lot of Sabremetricians would claim that lineup construction is largely irrelevant and overrated. He's gone on record as saying he only does it so Pujols can be his cleanup hitter and bat in the 1st inning (even though he maintains it when Pujols is out). If so, it's only an unconventional lineup for the first 8 hitters (first time "through"), anyway.
It seems like his unconventional decisions usually backfire when he's faced the Phillies, as well.
