The Oilers have a crapload of young talent, but unfortunately, that young talent is going to struggle at times.
A big chunk of that young talent is sitting at home not playing right now. Also, adding payroll can add younger talents, there's nothing that says it can't. Third, showing the young kids what it's like to win, and have success and get somewhere and beat good teams, and go more than one round in the playoffs is VERY important in building a great hockey team. That's what I mean by building. The last thing we want is for this team to learn what it's like to miss the playoffs and lose alot of games it should win. That's not going to help anyone.

Just as a note, that line was also in reference to what I said above about "why don't we just trade all our decent players" because they "we can't afford them".
