Apparently Calgary is offering a 3 year deal that Vancouver wants no part of.

Makes sense if either team unloads one of their defencemen (Gauthier for Calgary and Sopel for Vancouver)

I can see Calgary wanting to add his offence on the back end, but why Vancouver? the Canucks already have the highest scoring defence in the NHL, and Slegr is just starting to get PP time.

Anyone else heard anything on this?
Nope. I suspect Gauthier isn't the reason why we would bring in Berard; Andrew Ference is. He's been on the rocks with Sutter since the beginning of the season, so I don't think Gauthier has much to do with it.

And there is no way Calgary will simply 'ante up' $2 million + to get a point getting blueliner with defensive shortcomings. We could've just grabbed Andy Delmore for much cheaper.
