If he's injured there's no need to send him to AHL. The reason they are doing it is because they can't afford the bonuses that the Kings signed him too. If he plays 25 minutes in all 82 games he gets the bonus, if he's injured he won't play in all 82 games, therefore no need to send him down.
Serious question, could this be considered cap circumvention? If they are sending him down for one game so the kill part of hi scap hit and bring him back for game 2 then are they not in violation of 'icing thier best possible lineup'?
