the Devils are off to a slow start with a 2-3-2 record and have scored just 14 goals. They twice have blown third-period leads to lose games, which is more notable and quite uncharacteristic.

Defensive Isles give Devils due

It will be the first of five times the Isles will oppose the defending champs over the next 29 games through Dec. 29.

The Isles have lost just twice through seven games (4-2-1-0) - and Aucoin believes the two losses (6-1 to Washington and 3-0 to Montreal) still prove "if we're not skating and playing disciplined, we still can get killed, no matter what system we're playing."
