Wrote up a massive blog entry about this, so take a look.

Basically, you want to use a whippy stick at first, make sure it's cut short enough that you can bring the puck in close to the body, lean into it a bit but you shouldn't have to really lean on it to get some whip, then pull back hard with your top hand while pushing with your bottom hand to release that whip energy. I also added a bunch of other stuff like snapping the wrists since they're all related.
