WELLS FARGO CENTER — The Flyers stretched out at the center ice circle and Danny Briere and Chris Pronger were chatting about and adjusting their half shields. It’s still a learning process for Pronger, who has to wear the visor by Dr. Stephen Goldman’s orders after getting hit in the eye on Oct. 24.
“It is clear. So I can see through it,” said the captain. “But there is that lip and you’re used to just not really having to look, it’s just right there. It is a bit of an adjustment. Sometimes it’s something you have to do. You just get used to it.”
The 37-year-old defenseman hasn’t worn a shield since he played in juniors for the Peterborough Petes, nearly 20 years ago. The technology has changed just a bit in that time, but Pronger says he doesn’t know how comfortable he is with the visor yet because he hasn’t played in a game.
“I haven’t done anything than just skate,” said Pronger. “It hasn’t really fogged up because I haven’t really been doing much. Until I do something more dramatic, I probably don’t really have much for you.
“Nothing beats being on the ice and in games and being a part of it.”
