It's a matter of getting our competitiveness and our emotion where it needs to be, if we come out and play where we did [Saturday] or give that type of effort, a lot of these other things will fall into place. That said, obviously we're not getting some production from some key sources. We want to get in a position where we see them play at their best, get a handle on what exactly fits, then get the people in their roles and away we go. I think we're all trying to see exactly what can fit, that's where we have a number of new bodies. I do anticipate us getting a little more certainty there.
I never questioned this kid's (Drew Doughty) competitiveness. I never questioned his ethics as far as wanting to win, In the end, put it all aside. It's over. Go play. And it does take a little time to get into that frame of mind."

You’ve just got to have confidence in your team and confidence in the system, not try to do too much, and just stay focused, really. Confidence in each other, I think, is the biggest thing. You don’t want to try to do too much on the ice, or try to change things. You just have to keep going out there and playing hard. In the second, we stopped getting the puck in deep. We didn’t move our feet as much as we did in the first, and that caused us to take some penalties and give a good power play a chance, not only to score some goals but to get momentum for their hockey team. They scored big goals in big parts of that period and they put us back on our heels, trying to kill the penalties off. The recipe to turn it around is just working hard and battling through it."

at all. We came out and we had a real good first period, especially in this building. We tried to build on the things we wanted to do, and then obviously we got in penalty trouble. This (San Jose) team, that’s their m.o. They feed off the power play. It gives them momentum, gives them confidence, gets them going. It just turned the tables on us right there, and they started picking up their game. They’ve got a good team over there, and they started picking up their game and we gave them every opportunity. In the third, we tried to bounce back. We had a better third, but still it was too little, too late.
That’s four years ago when you could take positives from losses like this. That’s four years ago, when you could do that with this team. There’s always a positive in every loss, and we’ve got to go out and play better, but this team is built to win. We can’t be losing these games. We can’t be giving the other team that many chances to beat us. If a team outplays us and does all the right things and gets the win, that’s one thing, but to play right into these guys’ strengths, and give them power play after power play in the second, it’s just unacceptable on our part. These were two points that we needed, and we didn’t get them."

You bring the referees into the game, and there is no need to do that. (The Sharks) built some momentum. Now we take another penalty and it’s a 5-on-3 after that. They are a good hockey club that rely on their power play. That’s why they’re a good team, and they fed off it.
We Didn’t get away from our structure … Not at all. I thought everything was good. At the end of the first period, I think the shots were 14-8 or so. The structure was good. We had a couple really good looks. We had a breakaway. We had all the reasons to just keep building on the momentum. There’s no question that they probably heard it from their coach, to pick it up and get going. They came out, at the start of the second, and got some plays at our net, but there was no danger until we brought it on ourselves.
I’m not going to worry about player confidence in this skid. You cannot get careless. If you’re going to be a good team in this league, you’ve got to make sure you’re playing hard, you’re competing and playing the right way. If you’re going to be careless, then you’re going to pay a penalty. I’ll say this. Before the fourth goal, Rob Scuderi is lucky he didn’t break his leg. That’s how players end their careers. I’ve seen players end their career that way. That’s why the NHL talks about the automatic icing. That is a penalty. That is embarrassing that that’s not called. That was deliberate."

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER
