Big fan of grip sticks, and I do the whole tape-rub thing on non-grip sticks. Totally personal preference obviously, but I don't feel like grip sticks really impede my hand from moving for stick handling, but I like the extra grip for shooting, and for just generally keeping hold of my stick when it gets whacked and whatnot. Some coatings are grippier than others, I find the odd grip stick to be a bit much when the palms of my gloves are dry, but once the palms get a little wet/sticky I've never found a stick that's too grippy for me.

Best feeling grips I've used, personally, are the grip on the Bauer one95 (the TotalOne has a similar grip I think), and the nipple grip on Warrior sticks. Both have a more subtle texture to them, unlike the "rubber coat" feeling of Bauer Vapor grips, Easton grips, etc.
