A big thanks to all the servicemembers out there. My grandfather and my uncle both served, my grandfather was a B-26 gunner in Europe and my uncle some kind of combat aircrew on a Vietnam helicopter. My father-in-law was also in the British Army.

If anyone reads much, these are two books that I loved growing up:
Guadalcanal Diary, written by a war correspondent with the 1st Marine Division (as I'm sure damocles knows) during the Second World War. Guadalcanal is an island in the Solomons, north of Australia, and the first place that American troops started to stem the tide of Japanese expansion after Pearl Harbor. Here, for under $10:

Another is Pappy Boyington's Baa Baa Black Sheep, amazing memoir of a Corsair fighter pilot. He was also with the American Volunteer Group in China, better known as the "Flying Tigers." Here, also for under $10:

And one more thing is this:
In honor of Veterans' Day, we'll go back to World War I in this very large map of the American Expeditionary Force.
