Umm, Pelle played with the team for several seasons, and his death was tragic...unless I'm missing sarcasm in your post?

And Ashbee's was retired after playing only 4 seasons with the Flyers (+ asst coach for one). If I'm not mistaken his number was retired before he died (or was even diagnosed with cancer).
