i didn't really like the line combinations we used last night either with sully out..
we all know gamache's only chance to make any impact is on one of the more offensive oriented lines, yet trotz obviously distrusts his defensive prowess enough to put him on a line that,where he'd get that kind of icetime.. but here gamache is, totally out of position trying to play on a grinding 4th line... once again, he got bounced around pretty good last night by their big d-men..
and i'm not a huge fan of playing both hall and hartnell together... they are similiar players, and don't complliment each other all that well on a line together i don't think.. i much rather see them split up and add strength to two lines..
the perreault-upshall-stevenson combo got pinned in our own end time after time, combined with the same happening to our 4th line last night was almost costly..
with the personnel we dressed last night, i'd much rather see something like this;
or those same lines with upshall and gamache flipflopped rather than the lines trotz tried last night.
it's just plainly obvious to me, that trotz simply doesn't want to put gamache out for 10+ minutes a game on one of those top three lines lines, and this is why he keeps him down on the 4th line so he can limit his icetime without affecting other key players ice times...
much as i like stevenson, and he's a valuable member of this team as a depth guy, he's simply not a top line type guy on this team. perreault needs speed on his wingers to offset his lcak of speed, not a grinder type guy
