I think that it is also important to look at who he drafted and how they did as well as who he didn't draft and how they did. Personally, it would seem to me that overall he has done okay and is pretty average in comparison to other teams. But here is the important thing for me-I don't want to be average, I want to be in the top 5. Timmins inability (or his draft teams') to get that impact player is the main obstacle. I am not talking about getting Price 5th overall, that selection should not be included.
Subban has turned out to be good, still a long way to know if it will be great, same with MaxPac. Other guys that Mtl let go are servicable NHL'ers, but not legit top line players. Seems to me that his later round selections have been more succesful than his first round , perhaps a philosophy/criteria fault?
All in all, okay, but I think we should always be looking to improve not stay the same.
