The 2013 Weather GDT

Here we go again folks, our favorite time of year: WINTER. It began on Monday, but it really starts tomorrow:

Winter Storm WarningIssued at 3:24 PM MST Wednesday 16 November 2011

Snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 centimetres and blowing snow expected for Thursday. This is a warning that dangerous winter weather conditions are imminent or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions...Listen for updated statements.

An intense low pressure system is expected to develop in Southern Alberta east of Red Deer by Thursday morning. On the northern edge of this system a band of heavy snow will form extending from Grande Cache through the city of Edmonton and surrounding regions to the Lloydminster region. 10 to 15 centimetres of snow is expected by Thursday evening along this band. In addition the system will also generate strong easterly winds. The strong winds combined with falling snow will reduce visibility due to blowing snow.
