Another thing: Hockey is played at a much faster speed than football.
1. Skating is faster
2. Ice and boards are harder surfaces than grass
3. Football helmets are much better suited for head-on-head impact
Bolded is the key. While the new helmets are decent, they dont prevent the brain from swishing around. It's time hockey graduated to the next level of head protection, but the open ice hit will always be a threat -- clean or not..
