This does not sound like a great idea in ice hockey, bending your neck forwards compresses the vertebrae and risks serious spinal injury if your head does take an impact in this position.

There is some good advice here about strengthening neck muscles and whilst it mostly applies to checking its still good practice to always keep your head up and never tuck it in:
