Get the surgery NOW! Say its a 4 month recovery; put him on the Long term Injury Reserve and open up cap space. Also, instead of having to give the Preds a 4th round pick, Leafs would get a 4th round pick from them (as per the deal burke made back in July)!
He'd be able to build himself up and be ready to contribute in the last ten games or so plus the playoffs.
McArthur, Grabovski, Brown and Armstrong will all be back fairly soon and meanwhile this is a great opportunity for Colborne and maybe Kadri to get some NHL games in.
