Every metric we have points to Carolina being pretty much terrible. And if you look at their roster, it gets very shallow very quickly.

They overperformed late last year and that led to unrealistic expectations this year. Then they lose a key guy in Cole and don't really replace him.

Heck, just consider, there are people out there (apparently including yourself) who're already considering the Habs a long shot, and they're four points ahead of the 'Canes with a game in hand. Montreal has a +2 goals differential. The Canes are at -21.

Muller just doesn't have a lot to work with.
