Well yes, in any low scoring sport (soccer, hockey) you win with the puck/ball in your possession more often than you win on the counter-attack. We were promised a possession team: when you have the puck you don't let it go and when you don't have the puck you try your damnest to get it back, like a 2 man forecheck and neutral zone pressure.
Instead we got the antithesis of that: minimal puck possession, terrible passing and general hockey play, and we give up the neutral zone in 90% of our games.
Last night it took 15 minutes to get a shot off in the third period. Unacceptable.
