Not one of us can know what will happen but having this procedure know before he puts lots of wear and tear(swelling etc) is a good thing. The knee gets cleared up of any debris and what not from the healing and rehab. After this he should be good to go as long as the tendons stay ok which should be the case with the extra time to heal.
