You're response is more or less saying akin to saying that forward cannot play defense because he's a forward. Or a good stay at home defenseman cannot chip offensively.
What in Poti tells you that its one of the other with him? To say that he is not a two way defenseman is not an answer. "Two way defenseman" is a lable. Nothing more.
The bottom line is Poti is playing much better defense than he did at any point last season. He is taking the body more rather than relying simply on the poke check.
So why must it be that he is either defensive or offensive. He's shown he can do both. So why can't he do both? And to say that he is not a "two way defenseman" is not an answer.
