I'm not a fan of giving up a huge asset for a rent-a-center (like Upshall for Weight).

Here's the feasible options in my opinion.

#1) Guys like Weight, Sakic, Jokinen, Arnott, etc will be UFA next year. We can make a run at "the big names" then, rather than giving up a good asset.

#2) Trade for a long-term asset. If we're going to give up something valuable, I'd rather go for a proven young center that might be available (Richards, Handzus, etc). One that doesn't have a huge contract.

#3) Trade for decent all-around guy (ex. McCauley), without having to give up much. Teams like Calgary, Anaheim, and New Jersey have made the cup finals without a dominant scoringline center.

I'm not a fan of going for Weight, unless it costs us minimally.
