I suppose it's irrational of me, but my line of thinking was that concussions are predominantly caused by rapid changes in momentum of the head, causing the brain to smack against the inside of the skull, if I understand correctly. A stick blade to the face, travelling mostly upwards, was enough to open Pronger's face, but I was doubting the force of impact with respect to his brain. An altogether unscientific post on my part.
