Aside from being on White's first goal, Beaulieu had a good game. He's clearly in his element on the point on PP with the puck on his tape. Great breakout pass on his team's first goal. It was audacious and almost got broken but still a great friggin' pass nonetheless. Him and Ryan Murphy had great chemistry on the PP, which is never a bad thing considering the fact that Murphy's a lock. Great puck movement from him, and in the last minute he rolled on a hit while keeping the puck on his tape, 'was gorgeous to see. Made a bad pass to Ceci that got cut, but showed great speed to recover the play on the backcheck, looked like Skinner vs Gill in a footrace.
Gallagher was buzzing every shift out there. Hit the post in the 1st, beat Jamie Oleksiak (who is a feet taller than him) physically along the boards, managed to keep the puck in a 1v3 long enough for his teammate to come help in and get a scoring chance. Great showing.
Was on the red's second goal, just like Bournival.
Bournival showed tremenduous speed in the neutral zone. Great defensive awareness too. He finished his checks which Team Canada LOVES. Made a bad play in the 2nd on a 3v2 where he took a shot wide instead of shooting for a rebound, and on the same shift shot wide again. Was great on the forecheck too. Got caught on the ice for a goal but it wasn't his fault. Nice to see him get used in the last minute.
Onto non-habs prospects:
Aside from a nice feed to Ferland for a goal, McNeill didn't have such a good game. I still prefer Beaulieu over him.
Boone Jenner was really good, improved his skating a whole lot.
Gormley looks poised again, unlike at the SSS where he was a shade of his usual self.
Hamilton didn't stood out offensively, for a guy producing so much.
Oleksiak had trouble with the puck at times and got beat along the boards by smaller players, didn't impress me. To me he doesn't make the cut.
Leduc made a lot of good plays. Had an assist on Thomas' goal. Looked way better defensively than I thought.
Pysyk had a few turnovers in the 1st but had a better rest of the game, not sure he's a lock.
Whoever that #32 was for the White, he has trouble with his skating style, gosh is that putrid.
Ty Rattie is getting manhandled along the boards, he has loads of talent though. I personnally wouldn't pick him.
Scheifele is the #1 center of this team, smart with the puck, speed, size.
Jaden Schwartz is a really complete player, another great pick by the blues...
Petrovic is better at moving the puck than I thought he was, stood out in the first, not so much in the rest of the game.
DSP was physical, just like Bulmer. Those 2 are on my team any day of the week.
Connolly had a pretty good game before getting injured, hang onto the puck and made smart plays, hope he's fine.
Dumba looked fine, might be one of the last cut. Another 2012 future 1st rounder, Ceci didn't stood out as much and coughed the puck at times. Doubt he makes it and I'm sad because he's one of my favourite for this year's draft.
Di Giuseppe was a nice surprise. Wheels, size, physical play, scored. This guy has a fair chance to make the cut. Would actually don't mind if we end up picking him in this year's first round.
Thomas has a lot of speed and even if he scored, he didn't show much else.
With so much hype around them, I wasn't impressed by Tanner Pearson nor Mark Stone.
I could actually see Zack Phillips make this team as a PP specialist, great chemistry with fellow seadog Beaulieu. Might be too slow though to play a regular shift, still displays a great vision.
Freddie Hamilton roofed one and worked hard but he didn't stand out to me.
