Obviously Habs management and coaches dont dislike physical players. I think the issue is that in JMs system, a system Cunneyworth isnt going to change overnight even if he hates it, is that JMs system valued positional play execution above everything else. No question in my mind that if you are a physical player and execute positionally then you are fine in JMs system. Problem is that I think players who try to deliver lots of hits, especially big one,s risk being pulled out of position if they commit all in to hit. As such, I dont think JM put much value in the hitting department given the absolute priority on positional play, and Cunneyworth may be of the same mind, or just needs time to work in a new and more physical game as one of its features. PG of course would try to get players who would fit into the system.
