Value goes down? Seems to me Spezza's only went up with most of the ridiculous proposals seen here including his name since he was drafted by Ottawa. I'd say Joni Pitkanen or Kari Lehtonen are still held in just as high, if not higher regard than when they were drafted, even though they haven't made any sort of significant showing thus far (and even before they started playing in America). I also think the Roberto Luongo trade stands contrary to your theory.
