I'd argue Gainey had a lot more vision than Gauthier. If Gomez was even NYR material we wouldn't have this problem. One thing to hope he becomes a 1st line center again, but he became a scrub.

Also, out of all people, gainey RARELY traded our prospects. During his time we won calder cup for a reason, because he stockpiled prospects. He wasn't perfect though.
