I like Avery, but I don't think he's got a place on this team anymore.
I dispute 3 and 4. He defended well and was trusted by Renney in the final minute of key games, including playoff games vs Caps, hanging on to a one-goal lead. There is no way Avery played his way off this team. His below the hashmarks pressure game is exactly what Torts claims he wants, he puts pucks to the net which Torts is always clamoring for, he is 5 times quicker than good ol' Rupper (just the mention of his name makes Torts smile - "He's such an important part of our hockey club"). I don't care if Rupp is 6' 11'" . He shows up a half hour late to every spot on the ice.
Also, this team doesn't HAVE any shootout specialists except EC and don't get me started with him vs Sean. Avery's goal on his PS last year was a beauty.
