I guess a lot of fans are a bit too young for the finer details of the '94 season. The 1st seed helped out a bit when we had to go 7 games against the devils and canucks. A 2 OT game and a 1 goal game, think home ice mattered just a smidge there?
And begging for playoff matchups based on regular season results is a little short sighted as well. Rocked the Devils in '94 6-0 in the regular season series, we know how the playoffs went. Went toe to toe with the Isles that year, 3-3 I believe, and that 1st round matchup was essentially a bye.
The thing with Boston is where is their adversity? They are rolling but is it their true identity or are they peaking in Dec/Jan? Same thing for us, honestly. We both beat the teams we should beat, find ways to win tight games, find another gear against the league's top. I think both teams have good playoff style hockey teams. Win in regulation, physical for wearing down the opp, north/south and converge to the net.
The best comment I've seen is reserving judgement until we play Boston.
