Lucky but also deserves credit for knowing the "value" of a player. Clarke wanted those guys at a certain price (don't know what that price was) and both players signed elsewhere and have been less than impressive. In fact, I just read that Malakhov retired back to Russia.

Also, while it wasn't a signing from last year I think the Knuble signing has been fantastic. He obviously gets the benefit of playing with great players like Gagne/Forsberg but he compliments their games very well and have been very happy with his signing. He kind of reminds me of Leclair from 4 or 5 years ago.
