My assessment:

Jeff, like pretty much any rookie, has some things to work on, not the least of which is improving his passing and cutting back on the poor shot selection. I don't care how good your shot it, 60-footers from a poor angles aren't going in and more often than not turn the puck over to the other team. It would be nice to see him play a little more physical, but I suspect that's not his game and never will be.

That said, he's easily the cream of the crop in the Flyers rookie class. In terms of raw talent, he's a step - a pretty big step - above Richards and Umberger. Eager? Like him, but he doesn't belong in this discussion. Carter is very fast, solid with the puck and has a fantastic shot. The fact he has more goals and an equal number of points as Richards despite getting less minutes, less power play time and less talented linemates says a ton.
