Ideally, we'd like to get a cheap hotel on the outskirts of the city and stay until Wednesday. Any suggestions?

Also, we're driving up, so if we do get a hotel outside the city is our best bet to bus into the city? Not a big traveling guy so I'm not sure what the best course of action would be to take.

Thanks a lot!

Edit: Scratch that, we decided to not get a hotel and instead make it a one day trek. Lots of driving ahead.

Regardless, where would you all suggest I keep my car for the day once we arrive? Are there any public access parking lots in/near the city? Maybe in a surrounding neighborhood where we could just train in?
Could always park by a station in say the Bronx and just take the subway in. You could park in Manhattan but it is extremely tough to find parking there and to park your car in a lot for a day is expensive.
