While technology has improved and it is much easier to to determine whether or not a player has a concussion, I've always felt that the serious increase in concussions since the lockout was due to the game being too fast.

Logically, one of the two ways to fix this would be to go back to clutch in grab. This would slow down the game significantly. Even though I would absolutely love this, I doubt the league would go through with it. Another option would be to widen the rink. The rinks were never resized after the game became significantly faster, large amounts of concussions should be expected.
