Southern kids attack whatever sport they love and strive to excel at it. Back when Logan was playing Bantam hockey at the Sportsplex (2004 or so), the kids had the drive but most didn't have the skills of those who'd been skating for years. They matched up fine against each other because most were in the same boat, and even did well in tournaments...but they didn't win THIS kind of tournament. I thought then that if kids grew up skating from the time they were preschoolers instead of putting on their first pair of ice skates at age 12, and if they played league hockey from the time they were itty bitties they'd be a formidable group. Even without a hockey background they quickly picked up the nuances of play and demonstrated that they had the muscular power needed to score. That's the southern showing through. Now the kids are getting the skating skills to go with it. Watch out future NHL.
