Keith Aucoin (EDIT - Can he break the single season assist record?)

Can Keith Aucoin keep up his pace and possibly break records this year?

Keith Aucoin, continuing his assault on the AHL single-season record for assists (89) set by Hershey’s George “Red” Sullivan in 1953-54, recorded three assists to increase his season total to 55 and extend his point streak to an AHL-season-long 13 games. He has surpassed his assist total of 54 from 2010-11, when he was limited to 53 games by injuries.

Aucoin, who has produced 25 points during his 13-game streak, leads the AHL in scoring (64 points). The centerman’s per-game points average (1.68) is closing on the 1.77 per-game average Don Biggs had when he set the AHL single-season points record of 138 in 1992-93 with Binghamton.

Biggs played in 78 games of an 80-game season. In the current 76-game season, Aucoin’s average projects to 128 and would project to 134 in an 80-game season. He would need to increase his per-game average to 1.82 to match the record.
