What I don't get in this rumour is the following:

The Caps acquired Jagr at the peak of his glory 2 years ago for a handful of questionable prospects. The reason for such a lopsided trade was that Pittsburgh was in a desperate situation to trade him.

Now Washington is even more desperate to trade Jagr then Pittsburgh was 2 years ago and Jagr is coming off two very average season (for him) and we would have to give 2 of our most valuable players. Come on.

I say if the Caps want to unload Jagr so desperately, which I found plausible, then they would to accept other problems or prospects in exchange. Not Koivu, no way. And as others have said (myself included), the only way could be an effective addition to MTL's lineup is if he plays on Koivu's wing.

End of discussion.
