I don't think the Habs are in a position to move Plekanec. He's such a key player for the team, trading him for prospects would really signify a full-scale rebuild in process, and I just can't imagine the Habs going that direction. Even if things continue along the current path and the team gets a lottery pick this year, I expect they'll be looking to make a quick turnaround from there, and not looking to blow things up any further. (Whether the quick turnaround actually materializes successfully or not, it will still be the desired direction attempted). Plekanec for any bundle of prospects deemed sane by any team just wouldn't fly. The offer fits the "sane" category fine, but just doesn't align with the Habs' direction. Probably. Hopefully.
