The scoring woes, and perpetual lack of leadership through adversity, are the two areas Richards would have definitely helped - and he would have very likely given the team a 2nd scoring line if he wasn't centering Vanek / Pominville. Stafford's motivational issues may have still been a topic but I doubt he'd be sitting on 7 goals if he had Richards centering him.

All that said, Richards wouldn't have changed the poor goaltending the Sabres have gotten this year nor would he, by himself, stemmed the impact of the injury plague the team had.
