the advantage it gives him is that more teams would likely trade for a comrie signed at 500k for 1 year that is holding out than an unsigned comrie amidst swirling rumors of 2+ mil a year that is sitting out.

Since Comrie's contract will be sp cheap it won't matter who the team is, tey will be able to afford him...even teams like the Pens and the Canes could pick him up in a trade without worrying about bringing in too much money.

That being said, if MC signs for less w/ the Oilers there is no way for him to "veto" a trade after that point. Him trying to veto a trade at this point would be illogical if all he wants to do is get paid and play the game he wants us to believe he loves.

OTOH, if he signs with the Oilers they are then paying him and if they're paying him it is in their best interest to trade him as quickly as possible, especially if they're paying him NOT to play.
