Oh yippee. We get another defensemen to add to the 7 we're already carrying on the club and he shoots left just like all the rest of them too. Woohoo.

IMHO this deal addresses the needs of neither team adequately.

Unless Atlanta is getting a serious upgrade in defense then we're not taking a d-man in a deal to make up correct "value". Stefan would likely not replace McAmmond's scoring for a Calgary squad that already needs more offensive punch.

Hurme may be an ideal replacement or stopgap for the Flames, but there are still doubts he can perform the duties of a #1 goalie.

The more I look at Atlanta and Calgary as trading partners, the more I become convinced that they make horrible ones. The tradable assets that each team posses are not the type that the other wants.

If Calgary is interested in Hurme why don't we just break it down real nice an easy and do this:

To Calgary:
Jani Hurme

To Atlanta:
4th round pick 2004

We break even on the deal and Calgary gets a bandage to help until Turek heals up.
