January 10, 1982 -- Bobby Clarke, who unknowingly played with a broken foot suffered the prior night, scored the GWG and the Flyers rallied for a 5-4 home win against the Colorado Rockies. Philly outshot Colorado 20-3 in the third period and Greg Adams (1-2-3) and Clarke (1-2-3), who scored 47 seconds apart, had the only goals. The Rockies led 3-0 through the first period on goals by Bob MacMillan (1-2-3) and two by Brent Ashton (2-0-2). The Flyers tied the game 3-3 but Don Lever scored with 45 seconds left in the second period to restore Colorado's lead. The Flyers held a 46-19 shots advantage including 10 by Bill Barber. Tim Kerr had three of the game's six minor penalties. Ex-Flyer Phil Myre made 41 saves and Clarke later said of his former teammate "Myre played a heck of a game. He made some great saves."

FLYERS-DEVILS' 2010-11 SEASON SERIES:
  • November 27, 2010 -- Travis Zajac scored the SO winner (2-1) in NJ's 2-1 home win. The Flyers led the shootout 1-0 when Nikolay Zherdev scored in the third round but Jason Arnott tied it. Johan Hedberg made 40 saves and was 3-for-4 in the shootout and was selected the game's top star. Danny Briere tied the game with a PPG midway in the third period. Philly held a 41-25 shots advantage including 28-11 combined in the second and third periods. The game totalled 10 PIMs. It was the second straight shootout loss for the Flyers in as many days leading Blair Betts to say “You can feel it (lack of passion). The atmosphere was light and there wasn’t enough emotion or intensity, even before we went on the ice.   • December 4, 2010 --Mike Richards (1-1-2, +3), who scored the tie-breaking goal 3:37 into the third period, and Jeff Carter (1-2-3) were the game's top two stars in Philly's 5-3 home win. Sergei Bobrovsky made 23 saves including a key stop on Ilya Kovalchuk's breakaway with the score tied 2-2. Kovalchuk earlier scored his second goal in the past 17 games. The Devils' PP was 1-for-43 on the road but went 2-for-3 in this game including making the score 4-3 with 44 seconds to play. The Flyers' struggling PP went 0-for-3 and fell into a 2-for-41 slump. Philly dominated the second period 14-4 on shots and scored the lone goal to tie the game 2-2. In the third, the Flyers scored three times including Carter's ENG.   • January 6, 2011 -- The line of Danny Briere (2-0-2), who scored twice in the third period, Scott Hartnell (2-0-2), who scored twice in the second period, and Ville Leino (0-3-3) who had a career-high three assists, combined for seven points and were named the top three stars in the Flyers' 4-2 win at N.J. Hartnell's second goal tied the game 2-2 with 1:06 remaining in the middle period. David Clarkson gave the Devils a 2-1 lead with 2:20 left in the second period, a goal confirmed by video replay after play had continued. Matt Carle added two assists. Brian Boucher made 18 saves and improved to 8-1-1, with a 2.07 GAA and .929 save percentage in his last 10 starts. Each team had 20 shots, Philly had a 7-2 advantage in the second period and the Devils had an 11-6 edge in the third period despite being out-scored 2-0.   • January 8, 2011 -- Brian Boucher made 34 saves and backed the Flyers to a home-and-home sweep with a 2-1 win in Philadelphia. James van Riemsdyk, the game's top star, and Danny Briere (PPG) scored first period goals. Johan Hedberg (8 saves, 10 shots) was replaced by Martin Brodeur who was a perfect 19-for-19 and earned second star status. New Jersey lost its 11th straight road game.   • January 22, 2011 -- Johan Hedberg made 26 saves and Patrik Elias scored twice in N.J.'s 3-1 home win. Henrik Tallinder (1-1-2), who made it 1-0, and Brian Rolston (0-2-2) also had two points. The Devils led 2-0 after the first period and outshot Philly 10-5. JVR scored with 20 seconds left in the second period. Elias added an ENG. The Devils entered the game with the NHL's worst record (14-29-3), but 4-0-1 in the last five, while the Flyers' led the NHL with a 31-11-5 mark.   • April 1, 2011 -- Patrik Elias (3-0-3) scored his eighth career hat trick, Brian Rolston (0-3-3) assisted on each goal and Johan Hedberg made 34 saves in NJ's 4-2 home win. Elias scored twice in the second period in under two minutes, the second which came on the Flyers' lone PP opportunity. FLYERS-DEVILS' 2011-12 SEASON SERIES:
  • October 8, 2011 -- Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 20 shots and backed the Flyers to a 3-0 win at N.J., the team's first regular season shutout since April 6, 2010 (a 2-0 win by Brian Boucher in Toronto). Claude Giroux scored in the opening period then Matt Read and Wayne Simmons added early third period goals. The Flyers dominated the third period, 9-3 in shots and scored twice.   • November 3, 2011 -- Patrik Elias and Zach Parise scored in the shootout (2-1) and John Hedberg made 20 saves in NJ's 4-3 win at Philly. Danny Briere scored the lone shootout goal for the Flyers, one that was reviewed to determine if he continued puck movement through the play. Sergei Bobrovsky made 36 saves. Zac Rinaldo's first NHL goal and Claude Giroux's score about six minutes later gave Philly a 2-0 lead 8:08 into the second period. Parise and Adam Henrique (1-1-2), his first NHL goal, tied it 11:57 into the second period. NJ held a 21-9 shots advantage in the second period and 39-23 in the game.   • January 21, 2012 -- Scott Hartnell (2-0-2) and Wayne Simmonds (1-2-3) led the offense and Ilya Bryzgalov made 30 saves to lead the Flyers to a 4-1 win at NJ. The Flyers' PP was 2-for-5 with Hartnell scoring both goals. Simmons' ENG, with 2:22 remaining, finished the scoring. NJ was 0-for-6 on PPs. Alexei Ponikarovsky, acquired the prior night, scored NJ's lone goal 28 seconds after the Flyers took a 2-0 lead and ended a 17-game scoring drought. The Flyers' PK was 14-for-14 against NJ through the first three games. The Flyers lost Jaromir Jagr, Danny Briere and Zac Rinaldo to injuries.   • February 4, 2012 -- NJ led 6-0 through two periods in an eventual 6-4 win in Philly. Kurtis Foster (2-1-3) and Ilya Kovalchuk (1-2-3) each had three points. NJ scored three PPGs and a controversial SHG which made it 2-0 with 57 seconds left in the second period after Claude Giroux was spilled. The Devils scored with under a second to play in the opening period to make it 3-0. The Devils scored four goals in a span of 2:34 to take a 5-0 lead. Johan Hedberg made 37 saves. Sergei Bobrovsky (17 saves, 23 shots) was removed for Ilya Bryzgalov (8 saves, 8 shots) after NJ pulled ahead 6-0 8:22 into the second period. The Flyers held a 41-31 shots advantage. The Flyers out-scored NJ 4-0 in the third period and established a team-record for largest shot differential (23) in a period with a 24-1 mark. The previous record was +21 (22-1) in the first period on April 4, 1982 vs. Toronto. The last time the Flyers had 24+ shots in a single period was on February 13, 1988 when they had 25 shots in the second period at Toronto.
