Favorite skating exercises?

Anyone have any skating exercises/videos that help with speed and transitions? My two particular poor traits are my "first three steps" and keeping my speed while transitioning back to front. I feel like whenever I transition from back to front when an opposing forward tries to go wide, I end up losing about half a step.

Anyhoo, my favorite is "Russian Circles" - skating around all five circles on the rink while keeping yourself facing the nearest net. Starting at an in-zone circle, you just travel around, transitioning every half-rotation to keep yourself facing the net. Great for backward and forward crossovers and just transitions in general. But it doesn't seem to help my transitions going in a straight line. Any ideas?
