The real promise from this season's experience is that we'd likely have survived if we had
to call up when injuries hit our forwards. As DoC mentioned, that's being resolved all on its own for next season in the form of Zucker-Coyle-Phillips as well as the forwards out of Granlund, Bulmer, and Larsson who don't make the team out of camp. Even a guy like Palmer (who's apparently close to making a return!) would have been a huge help if he hadn't been injured.
We'll still have the defensive depth issue (and perhaps it'll even be worse if we don't trade for/sign some depth or draft a guy eligible to go directly to Houston) but with the injuries early in the year (remember when we had to sign Fredheim just to have 6 defensemen?) I think it became clear that we were getting it done with plugs on defense. I don't see why we can't do the same next season, especially if Brodin is ready to step in and Scandella continues to improve.
