Although the NBA players took a cut in their share of basketball related income (from 57% to a 49-51% split), the NBA also put in protection to ensure the cap did not drop immediately. The cap remains at least at the level it was prior to the new CBA next year.

I expect the player's share of revenues will drop, but I think the NHL will put in similar protection to keep the cap where it is now/will be in July. I just wouldn't expect any additional growth for at least a few years.
