If there's anyone who shouldn't go there, it's a Boston sports fan. Boston has a reputation for racist fans, especially in basketball, mostly based on a reality decades ago but every time an incident happens it brings back the accusations. Even today there's accusations that the Celtics and Pats go out of their way to sign white players. I'm not saying this is fair but those in glass houses should not throw stones. If you want to cherry pick examples to demonize an entire fanbase, the only group with more ammo against them than Boston sports fans is Philly sports fans, and that's debatable.
A friend of mine got beer thrown at him for wearing a yankees hat in Boston. I've heard stories of a lot worse incidents. Say what you want about Montreal but fan violence caused by wearing the wrong teams colours rarely happens, much less than in Boston or Philly at the very least. Nobody is afraid of wearing a Bruins jersey around Montreal, walk around Boston in a Habs, Lakers or Yankees jersey and you probably won't get hurt, but you will get abused far worse than anything I have ever seen in Montreal.
